If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you may have noticed that I am a 2014 Busch Gardens Williamsburg Ambassador. I received two free visits to Busch Gardens for myself and my family. We had been to Busch Gardens prior to my ambassadorship. Our dear friends moved to Virginia in 2008. Suddenly, instead of living far, far away in England, they lived about four hours away. It was (and is) awesome! In the summer of 2009, we visited them several times and we all went to Busch Gardens together! I blogged about that after being selected as a 2014 ambassador.
Our ambassador visits were practically the same as our 2009 visits: We stayed with our friends and they went with us to Busch Gardens. We had loads of fun! As an ambassador, though, I took a ton of pictures and tried to “process” the visit from a blogger’s viewpoint. What would my readers like about Busch Gardens? What would they want to know about visiting?
Our first visit was in June. I blogged about that in my post, A Perfect Day at Busch Gardens. Our second visit was in August. I have been waiting for just the right time to blog about that visit. As soon as I saw the Busch Gardens Black Friday deals, I knew it was time!
My family enjoyed our second ambassador visit to Busch Gardens Williamsburg in August. Although it was not planned that way, we actually visited on one of the very last days of the regular season. During the June visit, I absolutely loved the Celtic Fyre performance, which is set in an Irish Pub and celebrates the marriage of a young couple. Seeing Celtic Fyre again was at the top of my list of things to do in August. My daughter & I even caught the very last performance of Celtic Fyre, having realized that it would be a bit special after viewing an earlier-in-the-day performance. Other members of our party had planned to go to the last performance, too, but were busily enjoying the rides, so September & I made a mad dash for Ireland and got in line as early as we could prior to the 8:00 pm show. We joined the line at 7:15 and were too far back in line to rush to the front row. I was not able to get the PERFECT front-row pictures that I had hoped for, but I did use the video setting on an iPad app to take rapid fire snapshots of the stage.
We absolutely loved both of the performances we saw that day, but the second one was definitely special. Because it was the last performance of the season, many cast members’ family and friends were in the audience. They were a lively group! Also, as much of the cast was featured as possible (the cast varies with each performance) and the cast itself planned a few special “antics.” We had a blast during that second performance! I am so glad we visited on that day. It was just so much fun! And, after briefly thinking I had actually missed the last day of Celtic Fyre entirely, I was ever-so-happy to find out I was wrong and was even able to enjoy it twice!
Here are some of the pictures from Celtic Fyre. Some of them are absolutely weird because of the fast motion of the dance! But, I thought that made them interesting. I mean, some people edit their photos to make them cool. I didn’t have to do that because the performance I was watching was so fast that the photos came out cool all on their own!
